Single and Double League Games

League Division

Every new player starts with the Ungraded division. Each player has the opportunity to be promoted to higher divisions, namely C Grade, B Grade, and A Grade, as well as the possibility of a relegation. However, a  C Grade player will not be further downgraded.

Accumulating 3 Wins in the Ungraded Division will leads to an upgrade to C Grade. However, the committee team may decide to upgrade a league player without having to accumulate 3 Wins base on their performance. This is common when there are not enough Ungraded Players to play against each one another.

Note: Once entering a new division as a result from a promotion or a relegation, you will be placed in a Provisional position until you have participated in 10 matches. This is to ensure there are enough matches for Average League Points and for ranking purposes.

What is a Same-Grade match and what is a Cross-Grade match?

The purpose of dividing the club players into different grades is to ensure that club players can always play competitively with other players of similar skill level.

A Same-grade match is a match in which players of the same grades compete against one another. For example, a B grade player competes with a B grade player.

It is not a requirement that club players can only play with players of the same grade. Instead, they can also play in Cross-grade matches.

A Cross-grade match is a match in which players of different grades compete against each other. For example, a B grade player competes with a C grade player.

Cross grade matches do not only happen in single matches but also in double matches.

Handicap Point System

To encourage club players to play with not only players of similar level but also players of higher or lower grades, Handicap Point System is in place. In the event of Cross-grade matches, extra points will be awarded to the player(s) of the lower grade to form the final league match result.

This is to remind players that when they face a stronger or weaker opponent, every point counts.

In the following circumstances, extra points will be awarded to the final scores of your same grade or cross-grade matches in the league table.

  1. A player with a grade ONE level lower than the opponent will be awarded extra 4 points.

  2. A player with a grade THREE levels lower than the opponent will be awarded extra 12 points.

A maximum of 12 points can be awarded to the Match Result to become the League Result (H)

Example one:

Dyami is a B Grade player and Jessica is a C Grade player. The match result is Dyami 21: 18 Jess. Dyami wins the match. However, the League Result (H) is Dyami 21: 22 Jess as

  • Jess is ONE level lower than Dyami which gives her 4 extra points

Results:
1. Dyami is awarded a WIN in his overall match result.
2. Jessica is awarded a WIN in her league match and Dyami has suffered a LOSS in his league result.
3. As Jessica’s result turns into a WIN after the adjustment, Jessica is awarded 3 League Points and Dyami is not given any League Points.

Example two:

Dyami is a C Grade player and Jessica is a B Grade player. The match result is Dyami 17: 21 Jess. Jess wins the match. However, the League Result (H) is a draw, i.e. 21: 21

  • Dyami is ONE level lower than Jess which gives him 4 extra points

Results:
1. Jessica is awarded a WIN in her general match result.
2. As the league result turns into a draw after the adjustment, both players are awarded 1 League Point.

Calculation of Handicap Points in Cross-Grade matches in double matches

To calculate the handicap point in double cross-grade matches, the following point table can be used.

C Grade - 0 point

B Grade - 2 points

A Grade - 4 points

S Grade - 6 points

Dyami (C) and Jessica (B) form a team to play against Kai (C) and Jayden (C). Team Dyami and Jessica team point is 2 Points (0+2) and Team Kai and Jayden is 0 Point (0+0). The surplus is passed onto the weaker team to form the final league match result.

The match result is Team Dyami & Jayden 21: 15 Team Kai & Jessica. Team Dyami and Jessica will add 2 Points onto Team Kai and Jayden's result to form the league match result.

Results:
1. Dyami and Jessica are awarded a WIN in her general match result in doubles.
2. The league result turns into Team Dyami and Jessica 21: 17 Team Kai and Jayden. Dyami and Jessica receive 3 League Points in their individual results on the League Table (Doubles).

How Promotion Works (Boys)

In the past 10 most recent matches,

From C Grade → B Grade 60% Winning rate (6 Wins) or ALP 1.6 (5 Wins + 2 Draws)

From B Grade → A Grade 70% Winning rate (7 Wins) or ALP 2.0 (6 Wins + 2 Draws)

League Points is awarded in the following way.

Win = 3 Points

Draw = 1 Point

Average League Point in the past 10 matches is calculated this way.

For example, 6 wins + 0 draws + 4 losses = 18 Points / 10 matches = ALP 1.8
